How to Spend 2 Days in Waco, Texas

My husband and I went on a mini Southern road trip (with no kids)! We spent some time in Waco, San Antonio, and New Orleans.

While in Waco, we spent a good portion of our time at the Magnolia Market. There is so much to explore and eat at Magnolia! But there is also so much to see, eat, and explore in the rest of Waco too!

Here are some things to do and places to eat in Waco, Texas:

Things to Do:

1. Magnolia Market & Shops at the Silos

Covering 2 city blocks in downtown Waco, the Magnolia Market has so much to explore. They have multiple shops, lots of food trucks, a bakery, and a coffee shop.

Shop, eat, repeat! And when you need a pick-me-up, grab some coffee at Magnolia Press.

They have some activities and games spread throughout the property… for both kids and adults!

2. Waco Tour

I highly recommend doing this Classic Waco Tour. It’s a great way to learn some history of Waco and see some main attractions.

Do this tour early in your trip so you can ask the tour guide for recommendations for the rest of your trip!

3. Cameron Park

We stopped at Lovers Leap in Cameron Park on the Classic Waco Tour that went on. If you don’t do the tour, I recommend stopping out here on your own! But on the tour, we got to hear the story behind the name which was very interesting.

The views are great at Lovers Leap! It would be the perfect place for a picnic or walk.

Grab some take away from Magnolia Table and enjoy these pretty views!

4. Spice Village

If you didn’t get enough shopping at Magnolia Market, check out Spice Village. It is packed full with lots of vendors selling their merchandise. It is also much much cheaper than what you will find at Magnolia!

5. Cameron Park Zoo

We didn’t stop at the zoo as we didn’t have the kiddos on this trip, but this would be a great stop with kids.

Leading up to the zoo they have some animal statues along the river walk which was fun to stop and take a picture with. We had to take a picture of the elephant and send it to our daughter who LOVES elephants!

Places to Eat:

  • Magnolia Table – We came straight here when we got to town (around lunchtime). There was a 2 hour wait and we were super hungry, so we just grabbed some food from Takeaway!
  • Magnolia Press – We enjoyed some pastries and coffee for breakfast here! They open before the shops open, so after we ate we just walked around the Magnolia property. It was nice to soak it all in before it got busy.
  • Common Grounds – for coffee or ice cream!
  • Food Trucks at Magnolia Market – We tried the Cheddar Box and The Dog House. Both were delicious!
  • Silo Baking Co. – The line can get fairly long. They also have a Silo Baking Co. food truck on the property, so check to see if that line is shorter!
  • Guess Family BBQ – Go early! They often times sell out of certain meats in the evenings. They also have a food truck at Magnolia Market.

Where to Stay

We enjoyed staying out in the country just outside of Waco. This is the Airbnb rental that we stayed in and loved!

There are a lot of great rentals to choose from in/near Waco!
